Chesapeake Clean Water Act. This legislation (SB 1816) is being debated this week in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee this week. The CCWA proposes to provide some federal funding to assist the State of Virginia and localities like the City of Virginia Beach in meeting the coming EPA mandates. BAC Highlights The May meeting of the Bayfront Advisory Committee heard an update from Randy Wallace, of the City, on a number of business non-conformities along Shore Drive; a report from Robert Gey, Traffic Engineer, about Shore Drive Safety issues; a report from CAPT Tony Zucaro, of VBPD, regarding matters relating to restaurant/bar establishments in light of past fatalities along the Shore Drive Corridor. BAC will meet again on 3:30 pm, July 15, at the Great Neck Rec Center. Mayor’s Alternative Energy Task Force The work of the Task Force will be reported at 6 p.m., July 1, at the Convention Center. This has been an exhaustive look at the topic, and can be reviewed in detail at AETF.
