First Landing Reenactment at First Landing State Park

1607. Seems like only 400 years ago!

In our very own neighborhood you can enjoy some amazing events that are planned to commemorate the First Landing.

WHAT:

Tickets are on sale now for the First Landing Reenactment at First Landing State Park.

All three replicas of the first English settlers’ ships – the Susan Constant, the Discovery and the Godspeed—will reenact the settlers first setting foot in the New World in Virginia Beach on April 26, 1607. They stayed 4 days and then sailed up the James River to settle Jamestown.

A replica of the John Smith Shallop, a small open boat John Smith used to make his exploration of the Chesapeake Bay in 1608, will join the three ships in a reenactment.

Educational exhibits, hands-on activities, various historical programs, a replica of a Chesapeake Indian Community and video productions of John Smith’s voyages will accompany the ships.
